Artwork 034 / 050 pays tribute to a special car in Alfa Romeo’s history. In the 1934 season, the legendary Alfa Romeo P3 Tipo B, operated by non-other than Enzo Ferrari, dominated Europe’s most prestigious races – from the legendary Targa Florio in the mountains of Sicily to the notorious city circuit in Monaco. It was the young French driver Guy Moll who was victorious after 100 laps around the streets of the principality, over a minute ahead of his Monegasque team mate Louis Chiron, who was leading the race until the second last lap. With that victory in his first ever race for the Scuderia Ferrari, Guy Moll became the youngest Monaco Grand Prix winner at only 23, succeeded by non-other that Sir Lewis Hamilton over 7o years later. Decades after, Enzo Ferrari still ranked Guy Moll as one of the best drivers he has ever seen and believed he could have become one of the best ever if it wasn’t for his tragic accident later that season during the prestigious Coppa Acerbo in Pescara.
